RVM Foundation Transit Home is located at Chikkagubbi Village, Doddagubbi Post, Bangalore - 560 049. The Home provides shelter to those who are homeless and in distress. It was started in the year 1998 by RVM and the Home initially had just 5 inmates and at present we have a family of 105 inmates of all age groups. From a 9-month-old baby to a 107 year old, men women and children from all castes, creeds and walks of life make this family what it is. We shelter and provide for the aged, discarded, destitute, homeless and the poorest of the poor.

All the people who are housed here are very poor and have been in the jaws of destitution and neglect or have been abandoned by their families. Most have suffered some trauma or the other – physical, mental and/or emotional. Few of them have been either burnt by their spouses, or suffered burns due to stove bursts; some of them are acid-attack survivors. We also have inmates who are physically and mentally challenged in our RVM Foundation Transit Home.

All the medical and personal needs of all the inmates are fully taken care of at the Home which is staffed with an administrator, doctor, nurses, a physiotherapist, cooks, housekeeping staff and security. We have other specialized doctors who visit the Home from time to time to check on all the members. To date, over 495 individuals have been sheltered and cared for at our Home. We presently have 17 Special Cases and they are the individuals who represent our RVM Foundation Transit Home and will continue to remain with us for the rest of their lives. They are not transited to any other Home/NGO because they have been adopted by the Home.

We network with 86 NGOs in Bangalore. After a certain period, we transit the existing members to other NGOs/Homes and Institutions/Rehabilitation Centers depending on their needs and only when they are physically fit to make the transition. After they are transited, we pick up more people off the streets and from destitute wards in government hospitals in order to reduce their pain and suffering and thus bring hope into their lives and a smile on their faces.
