Humanitarian History

Years ago, before the RVM Foundation came into being, RVM saw that there are many destitute people, young and old have been abandoned and left to suffer on the streets of Bangalore. He provided them food and temporary shelter. Then he took them to some of the NGOs in the city. Most of the NGO’ he visited, gave reasons on why they couldn't take those people in. Some NGO's said that they didn't admit the terminally ill. Others said that they admitted only physically challenged cases and not the mentally challenged. So, there were people who were not admitted due to both the conditions, cost or age.

All these experiences motivated RVM to build a transit home which admitted any one suffering any kind of pain, irrespective of age, type of illness or financial capacity. They were all rehabilitated here and then transited to their families or to other NGOs that would take them.

With this vision, a land was purchased in 1993 and construction was started in 1996. The RVM Foundation Transit Home opened its doors to the poor and the needy in 1998.
